The Marketing Store achieves certification to The Planet Mark
The Marketing Store has again achieved certification to The Planet Mark, an internationally recognised sustainability certification.
To achieve the global certification, the agency calculated the carbon footprint of its Chicago, Hong Kong, Leeds, London and Paris offices for the year ending December 2020 and has pledged to maintain a 5% reduction in emissions annually.
This is the first time that The Marketing Store has been recognised globally and the second year of business carbon footprint reporting for the agency’s European offices.
From 2019 to 2020, the Europe offices were able to reduce their total carbon emissions by 69.2%, placing them in the highest reduction band among other Planet Mark holders.
Naturally, this significant reduction was bolstered by Coronavirus restrictions forcing the closure of the customer engagement agency’s offices throughout much of 2020. However, during this time The Marketing Store continued to encourage its employees to make positive adjustments to influence their environmental impact whilst working from home.
As they look to maintain a 5% reduction in 2021, the agency continues to research and innovate efficient hybrid and virtual working models for its teams.
The Marketing Store also measured its Social Value contributions for the year, in recognition of the contribution it makes to society. The agency reported on nine Social Value measures and scored highly for investing in diversity, equity and inclusion measures and providing meaningful work placements (paid internships) and apprenticeships.
“This is an exciting year for us because not only does our Planet Mark certification have global scope, but we have also taken our parent company HAVI on the journey with us too,” said Pamela Stathaki, Head of Sustainability at The Marketing Store.
“The pandemic may have created some setbacks, but we have not allowed it to put a pause on our sustainability ambitions. We are excited about HAVI’s new sustainability strategy ‘Better Future Blueprint’ and looking forward to helping our people and our clients drive significant and vital change.”
Steve Malkin, Founder and CEO of The Planet Mark, added: “As cutting-edge communicators, The Marketing Store is a great example of an agency using its voice to influence the masses on the fight against climate change. Their commitment in making a positive environmental and societal impact can be seen throughout their processes, underpinning everything they do.
“The carbon reductions achieved this year are evidence that with enough ambition and collaboration, we can advance practices and solutions that accelerate climate action.”
