Mattel partners with PIN-UP for Barbie Dreamhouse: An Architectural Survey art book
Mattel has partnered with architecture and design magazine PIN-UP for a limited-edition Barbie Dreamhouse art book.
Barbie Dreamhouse: An Architectural Survey celebrates 60 years of the iconic toy, exploring the changing architecture of the Dreamhouse over the years through six houses and furniture that encapsulate each period’s design.
Conceptualised by PIN-UP Magazine’s Felix Burrichter, Whitney Mallett, and Ben Ganz, the book also features interviews with celebrated architects, artists, curators, and writers.
“With the explosion of Barbiecore and the post-Covid obsession with home décor, this is the perfect moment to consider the Dreamhouse’s cultural impact and legacy,” said co-editor Whitney Mallett.
Felix Burrichter, Co-editor and PIN-UP Creative Director, added: “Since the first Dreamhouse in 1962, Barbie’s homes have transformed and evolved, richly quoting 20th and early 21st-century architecture and design history.
“Our book documents the impact Barbie has had on the global architectural imagination.”
