Games and publishers will be grouped according to categories at October’s show, with family games housed in Halls 2, 4, 5 and 6.

The move marks the first time in the board game show’s 40-year history that it has a mascot.

Alongside Dominique Metzler and Florian Hess, Carol will assume joint responsibility for the organisation and ongoing development of the Essen-based Spiel show.

Spiel MD Dominique Metzler discusses what inventors and publishers can expect from next month’s show, taking place at Messe Essen from October 6th to 9th.

“Due to force majeure, we will not be able to run Spiel 20 on the intended date, either factually or technically,” read a statement from show organisers.

Spiel takes place in Essen from October 24th to 27th, and the stream will run from 9am to 6pm (UK time) on Thursday through Saturday, and 9am to 5pm on Sunday.
