The Department’s Hamish Jenkinson to explore ‘Immersive Experiences: The New Frontier for Kids Entertainment’ at Play Creators Conference 2022
Hamish Jenkinson – Founder and Executive Creative Director at the immersive agency The Department – will discuss his approach to crafting playful experiences at this year’s Play Creators Conference.
The Department specialises in designing multi-sensory, immersive experiences for some of the world’s biggest brands, including an upcoming collaboration with Warner Bros on an Arkham Asylum experience in London.
His session – Immersive Experiences: The New Frontier for Kids Entertainment – will explore Hamish’s creative approach and the potential of the immersive entertainment space for companies working in the kids’ space.
Hamish was educated in the Waldorf Steiner School system – which focuses on the interconnectedness of physical, emotional, social, spiritual and cognitive development – and his mother, Sally Jenkinson, wrote ‘The Genius of Play’, an acclaimed book addressing what play is and why it matters.
He co-founded The Department in 2013 and the agency has won many accolades and international clients along its relatively short journey, taking home Gold at The Drum Content Awards for their work with Toyota launching the new C-HR Hybrid. Prior to setting up The Department, he founded the cult experimental art venues The Old Vic Tunnels and The Vaults, and was Executive Director of UEFA and FA Cup opening ceremonies. He has also been appointed an ambassador for the Prince’s Trust.
This year’s Play Creators Conference – sponsored by Hasbro – is taking place at London’s Twickenham Stadium on Tuesday, September 6th.
